Livingston student dies in crash

(Filed August 26, 2010) According to a news release from the Kentucky State Police a 16-year-old Smithland boy died in a crash in Smithland this morning. According to the report Austin G. Crouch, 16, of Smithland was driving a 1989 Toyota pickup truck westbound on KY 70 near the 400 block when he crossed the centerline and struck the driver’s side of an eastbound 2003 Ford pickup driven by Billy J. Mitchell, 48, of Paducah. Click here for more.

Lake drowning deaths mount

(Filed August 24, 2010) For the second weekend in a row rescue crews were called to Kentucky Lake.

 

Martin Logan, 36, of Marion, Illinois died Sunday after diving into shallow water in the Sandy Beach area near Pisgah Bay in Lyon County, Ky. Click here for more.

Four charged for neglecting    parental responsiblities

(Filed August 18, 2010) Deputy Robert Johnson was dispatched to the area of US 68 West and Frankfort Road on August 17, in reference to a small child walking in the roadway. The call had come in to 911 after a witness saw the child almost get hit by a passing car. The witness removed the child and called for help.

Armstrong and Foster honored

(Filed August 4, 2010) Dennis Armstrong and Douglas Foster have been honored by the Calvert City Lions Club with Finis E. Davis Fellowships. Finis Davis was Kentucky’s first and only President of Lions Clubs International, the largest service club in the world. Davis was also president of the Kentucky Lions Eye foundation and spearheaded efforts to raise the first two million dollars to build the Kentucky Lions Eye Research Institute, which is now a world-class center. Dennis and Doug have served the greater part of their lives in Lions Clubs and as such, have set high standards for service to those in need and the community. This fellowship not only calls attention to these two men’s dedication to the motto of the Lions “We Serve”, but also provides funds for the Kentucky Eye Foundation.
