Ky has new plans for State Parks

(Filed June 10, 2010)  The Kentucky Tourism, Arts and Heritage Cabinet (TAH) today launched a plan on June 9, 2010, designed to transform and modernize the Kentucky State Parks system and bring long-needed financial stability to the parks. The plan is based on a comprehensive study of the park system conducted by PROS Consulting. Meth explosion injures Calvert man

(Filed June 23, 2010) According to Chief Elliott, a meth lab exploded in a structure on Crabapple Street in Calvert City. The explosion brought responders from Calvert City Police, Marshall County Sheriff’s and area fire departments to the scene at approximately 3:00 p.m. today. Click here for more.

Joseph Simmons, named              MCHS head girls' basketball coach

(Filed June 14, 2010) Marshall County High School has announced the hiring of Joseph Simmons as the new girl’s head basketball coach. Coach Simmons was introduced to the media and introduced to players, parents and boosters earlier today.

Simmons has been assistant basketball coach at Wallace State Community College in Arkansas.

He is a native of Arkansas and is a graduate of Arkansas State University.

Coach Simmons does have a Marshall County connection. His wife is Adrianne Farmer and she is a 1998 graduate of Marshall County High School. They have a two-month old daughter.

Food Giant welcomes new manager

Yard Sale to benefit injured Officer

(Filed June 3, 2010) A benefit yard sale is scheduled for Friday, June 4 and Saturday, June 5, in the parking lot of Bark, Bath & Beyond on Highway 68 in Draffenville between Mike Miller Park and Highway 95. The sale is planned to begin as early as 7:00 a.m. To read more click here.

Calvert Officer seriously             injured during holiday duty

(Filed June 1, 2010) Calvert City Police Officer Nick Spears is facing multiple surgeries and an extended period of recovery after being seriously injured in a crash Saturday night on the interchange ramp linking Purchase Parkway and I-24. According to Marshall County Sheriff Kevin Byars Officer Spears had apparently just turned to pursue a speeding vehicle shortly before the crash. To read more click here.
