VFW Post 5739 Community Fish Fry

April 11: Calvert City VFW Post 5739 & its Ladies Auxiliary will be having their regular monthly Fish Fry on Friday, April 11, between 5 PM & 7 PM. Come out and enjoy a great meal of Fish, hush puppies, white beans, French fries, cole slaw, dessert and drink for only $8. April 12 from 9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. at Ponderosa Steakhouse in Draffenville. Special items for the children and pictures with the Easter Bunny. Children will also be able to sit and listen to children’s stories read by staff from the Marshall County Library. Community Country Breakfast

April 12: A Community Country Breakfast will be held Saturday, April 12, from 7 – 9:30 a.m. at St. Matthew by the Lake. Join us for a delicious meal of Biscuits and gravy, Eggs, Sausage, Country Ham, Pancakes, Coffee and Juice. $5.00 for adults and $2.50 children under 12. We serve breakfast the 2nd Saturday of each month. Located at 3966 U.S. Hwy. 641 N, outside of Draffenville and before Hwy. 1422.All of our profits go back into the community, i.e. Marcella’s Kitchen, Needline, Marshall County Rescue Squad.

Camp Robin to help grieving children, teens and parents

April 12: Lourdes Hospice will be hosting CAMP ROBIN on Saturday April 12, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Heartland Worship Center. It is a FREE camp open to grieving children, teens and their parents/guardians who have lost siblings, parents, etc. and having a hard time dealing with their grief. Providing education and support in a setting where they may gain skills and discover inner strength as they cope with their grief. Click here for details.

Worship Services and Egg Hunt

Begins April 17: First Presbyterian Church of Calvert City invites the public to Maundy Thursday Worship Service on Thursday, April 17, at 7 p.m.
Fish Fry on Good Friday, April 18, starting at 7 p.m. before worship service at 8 p.m.
Easter Sunday Worship Service begins at 10:45 with Easter Egg Hunt following the service. Located at 618 Evergreen Street.

Easter Egg Hunt-Calvert City

April 19: A Community Wide Easter Egg Hunt will be held April 19, from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the Calvert City Memorial Park. Sponsored by Calvert City United Methodist Church and Calvert City First Baptist Church.

Empty Bowl Project scheduled

April 19: The 2014 Empty Bowl Project will be held on Saturday, April 19, from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at Marshall County High School in the Commons Area. Tickets are $15 in advance and also at the door. Marshall County organizations and citizens will join together to raise money to help Marcella’s Kitchen feed people in need during the annual fundraiser. Guests will be able to select a beautiful painted bowl and will fill with delicious food and treats from restaurants and area churches.

Easter Events Planned At Kentucky State Parks

Kentucky State Parks will be serving their annual Easter buffets April 20, and several parks are planning other special events.

The menu includes beef carved on the line, baked country ham, golden fried catfish and hushpuppies. The meal will also include fresh fruit, a cheese bar, garden vegetables, salad and desserts.

Join TeamKID at CCUMC

The Calvert City United Methodist Church will begin TeamKID Wednesday nights from 6-7 and Sunday mornings from 10-10:45. The theme of TeamKID is "Jumping the Hurdles" where children will learn how to get over the hurdles in life with God's help. It will be a great time of games and learning about ourselves, others and God. We invite any child in grades kindergarten through fifth grade to join us for TeamKID. Feel free to call the church office for more information - 395-4746.

Exceptional Center to host Don Fightmaster Golf Tournament

April 26: It's that time of year again, time for the annual Marshall County Exceptional Center Don Fightmaster Golf Tournament on Saturday, April 26 at the Calvert City Country Club! 4-person scramble. Ladies and couples teams are welcome to participate.
Entry fees are $75 per person (includes green fees and dinner). If you don't golf and still want in on the fun, no worries, we have you covered! Dinner only, provided by Magic Valley BBQ, will be $10 per person. Shot gun start at 1:00 p.m. The BBQ Dinner will be at 5:00 p.m. at the Calvert City Country Club Room with the auction following the dinner. The auction is a great chance to help support MCEC while grabbing up some goodies as well. We are accepting donations for auction items if you would like to help us out. Just give us a call and we’ll make the arrangements.
We have hole sponsorships available for $100 and corporate sponsorships available for $500. All donations are tax deductible. We will gladly fill out a tax receipt upon request.

April 26: Workin’ Friends Relay for Life 4-Person Golf Scramble will be held Saturday, April 26, 2014 with a Shotgun Start at 7:45 a.m. at Drake Creek Golf Club. Located at 1 Torrey Pines, Ledbetter, KY 42058. Lunch provided by The Patio Grill. This is an opportunity to win prizes and play a really good golf course while helping Relay for Life.

Draffenville Lions Club Bingo

The Draffenville Lions Club Bingo is held every 1st and 3rd Tuesday of every month. Concessions are available. Opens at 5:30 p.m. starts at 6:00 p.m., at the Draffenville Community Center behind Johnny’s Barber Shop on Hwy. 68.
