Marshall County Humane Society looks forward to next five years
(Filed January 2, 2012) The Humane Society of Marshall County is celebrating its 5th anniversary of operation in the facility at 6301 US Hwy 68E, in Benton, KY., that opened in December 2006. During the past five years the facility has successfully adopted many pets into loving homes, and actively involved the community in participating in the various aspects of the facility.
The facility welcomes volunteers, and visitors to help socialize the pets, and to educate the public about the needs of homeless pets, and the need to spay/neuter our pets. There is a large variety of activities volunteers can assist with that meets their specific interest. During the past two years due to technology, the Society has been interacting with other facilities and rescues, increasing the number of pets the facility has handled. It is currently normal for the facility to house anywhere from forty to fifty plus animals at any one time.
The Board of Directors and staff looks forward to the next five years, always looking for ways to increase the number of pets they can help. As a nonprofit organization, the Society is constantly seeking new ways to increase its revenue, especially during the current economic environment. Even though fundraising events have increased, the organization needs to have more with improved results. The Society is totally dependent upon community donations, fundraisers, membership fees, adoption fees, and the United Fund of Calvert City. No funding is received from any local, or state governmental bodies. The Society asks the community to join in a combined effort to ensure the next five years is as successful as the past five.
