Thieves steal ATM from Benton store

(Filed June 28, 2013) Benton Police officer Kris Arnold responded to an alarm at Cheers/Beanie's convenient store on Slickback Road in Benton this morning and found that thieves had broke into the business and taken an automatic teller machine (ATM).


Apparently the thieves worked quickly because according to Arnold’s report he respond to the scene within three minutes of the call. When he arrived the front glass door had been busted out and the inside ATM machine removed.


A surveillance video of the store shows two unknown thieves were wearing dark clothing with either hoodies or sock caps on their head. The thieves fled the area in a black Chevrolet HHR. The vehicle proceeded toward Mayfield on KY58.
