Lyles to head CADA in 2013

(Filed March 26, 2013) CALVERT CITY- Members of Calvert Area Development Association met last Friday at noon and named long-time member of the organization Bruce Lyles as its president for the upcoming year. Lyles is manager at Heritage Bank’s Calvert City branch and has been a member of CADA nearly since its formation.

In other business the groups focused on plans for this summer’s annual AmeriBration event on the Fourth of July. One of the most popular early events for AmeriBration is the 5k run which is also a fund raiser for the Calvert-Sharpe Family Resource Center located at Calvert City Elementary School. CADA is faced with the task of finding a replacement for the Tim Vincek who has been the chairperson for the 5K since it was re-instituted as an AmeriBration event. Vincek organizational skills and his relationship with local runners along with a great location for the race has made it a successful fund raiser for school children and their families.

Along with making plans for the Fourth of July celebration CADA also approved funds to sponsor an Ipad for Calvert City Elementary School’s fourth grade class and work with the school to get local financial support for the program at the school which supplies Ipads to every student in the fourth grade for use at school.

Calvert City Elementary School is one of the major benefactors of fund raising efforts by CADA which is a 501C-3 non-profit organization. CADA earmarks funds raised during the Fourth of July 5K run and the Christmas Bazaar in November for donation to the family resource center. The organization also supports a children’s art showcase on Labor Day weekend and sponsors a series of musical events in Memorial Park along with the City of Calvert through out the year.
