Lace up your tennis shoes, fill up your water bottle, and get outside because the AmeriBration 5k and 1 Mile Youth Run is right around the corner. The local Family Resource Centers, the Calvert Area Development Association, and the Marshall County Health Department are teaming up to support our local community and its families.
The AmeriBration 5k Run/Walk and 1 Mile Youth Run will be held Saturday, June 28 beginning at the Calvert City Civic Center. The timed 5k will start at 8 am, and the timed youth run will begin at 9. Awards will be held at 9:30.
“This is my first time assisting in the event, but I’m hoping we will have at least 200 runners,” Crystal Beyers, Calvert-Sharpe Family Resource Center coordinator said.
You can register online at www.active.com. The cost will be:
5k advanced registration: $20; 5k race day registration: $25;
Youth registration: $10, paid on race day. Advanced registration ends Friday, June 18. Participants that pre-register will receive a Moisture Wicking T-shirt. Same day registration will be held at the Civic Center from 6:30-7:40 am.
The proceeds of the event will benefit the local Family and Youth Resource Centers.
“Our proceeds will be used to provide school supplies at the Back to School Bash. This is a big event that we’re focusing on,” Beyers said. She was unsure of how the other centers would use their funds received from the event.
This event was not held last year but has been successful in previous years.
