Early morning head-on collision sends two to hospitals

(Filed October 25, 2012)  Lannette N. Nieder, age 32 of Grand Rivers, and Jessica Rogers, age 19 of Paducah, were injured Thursday in an early morning head-on collision in Calvert City.

 

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office reports at approximately 1:40 a.m. Thursday morning Nieder was operating a 2000 Chevrolet S-10 pick-up truck, approaching Calvert City on U.S. Highway 62, near Riley Circle, when she reportedly drifted across the center line of the roadway striking Roger’s 1993 Chevrolet Silverado pick-up head-on. Rogers was extricated from her vehicle and was transported by EMS to Lourdes Hospital in Paducah for treatment of injuries sustained in the collision. Nieder was extricated from her vehicle and was then airlifted by helicopter by PHI to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.


No other vehicles were involved in the collision. Both women were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the collision.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation by Sgt. Mark Balentine of the Marshall Co. Sheriff’s Office. Balentine was assisted at the scene by the Calvert City Police Department, Calvert City Fire Department, Possum Trot-Sharpe Fire Department, Marshall Co. EMS and PHI.
